Interesting? (none / 0) (#1)

Siena's poll numbers seem apathetically soft, like, maybe, people are gonna stay home in large numbers, not going to bother to vote....

About a quarter of the 848 voters polled, however, responded that they did not know who Ellis was.

Not sure what is so interesting. I'm no Kreskin, but I think I mentioned awhile back that running a "stealth" campaign where your loudest public advocate is a kook like the AlbanyWeblog.com guy is not exactly a way to win.

Ellis is better off losing anyway, the nice cushy gig with a not for profit or union is a better deal.

I'm glad you said you'd buy a copy of my book.

perhaps after you read it you won't be so fucking naive. You don't know what you are talking about.

the odds of ellis getting some cushy job with a union after this election are about as likely as the odds of me getting hired to replace Christian Mesley.  the unions own the powerful corrupt politicians.  They don't like people like Ellis. You do know it was a union who started the parking ticket scam that stole millions (tens of millions) from the albany taxpayers, right?

Absolutely (none / 0) (#4)

I'll be one of the first purchasers.

Different government or quasi-government unions own different sets of politicians. So while I agree that Ellis would not be a good candidate for an Albany Police Union gig, a gig with a place like SEIU or Unite Here.

It's a shame that he had to abandon his Council seat, as he proved to be a good councilman. I was totally wrong in my initial assessment of him in that role.

Enjoy your retirement.

Poll: Dems oppose Albany convention center plan (none / 0) (#5)
by Jim Travers on Sat Sep 12, 2009 at 11:38:37 AM EST
"Democrats in Albany, N.Y., who are likely to vote in the mayoral primary overwhelmingly oppose a new convention center downtown, according to a poll.

Democrats likely to vote in the Sept. 15 primary oppose building a $225 million to $240 million convention center by a 52 percent to 38 percent margin, according to the Siena Research Institute in Loudonville."

"Convention Center Authority Chairman Gavin Donohue wasn't surprised by the poll results given the state of the economy.

"We're going to continue to work hard to get more support but we're not going to back down from the mission and charge to assemble the site for revitalization," Donohue said."

"He said the project involves more than just a convention center. A hotel and parking garage would also be built, creating the potential for new retail stores and perhaps a modern transportation hub in the future to replace the Greyhound station."

"The Albany Convention Center Authority has begun buying land for the convention center with $10 million in state funds, but as of yet has no commitment from the state to pay for the construction."

http://albany.bizjournals.com/albany/stories/2009/09/07/daily38.html?ed=2009-09-11&ana=e_du_pub

Let's not forget this:

"...when it comes to dealing with neighborhood issues" and "reforming city government." the poll "rated Ellis and Jennings at 44 percent apiece."

http://www.timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=840790&TextPage=2

Or this:

In Albany appearances are everything. It is well known that to avoid the retaliatory wrath of the machine many Republicans register as Democrats.

Many Ellis supporters place "Jennings" and his slate of candidates signs on their lawns for the same reason. And under that guise they answer "appropriately" questions asked by pollsters.

Vote for Ellis. Dump Jerry and his team of corrupt cronies. They, like his dump, all stink to the high heavens.

Is It The End? (none / 0) (#7)

Tthe Sienna Poll is of respondents who own lan lines.  A majority of the tenants in my apartments don't even bother to hook up their lan lines anymore, they use their cells exclusively.  Basically this survey is of older folks who won their own homes.

Then again, older folks who own their own homes tend to be consistent voters.

Last I heard, just before the poll came out, that the folks down at CA were very upbeat about Corey's chances. Of course, even a limited survey like this Sienna one could very well influence voters to "go with the winner."

We'll see.

Poll Respondents (none / 0) (#9)
by Dan Van Riper on Sun Sep 13, 2009 at 11:44:53 AM EST

I heard this morning (9/13 Sun) from a reliable source that at least one of the Sienna Poll respondents lives outside Albany!  Not to be wondered at, people in both guilderland and colonie have Albany mailing addresses and share albany zipcodes.  You'd think Sienna, being in Loudenville and all that, might have figured out how to deal with that kind of thing by now...

If there was at least one poll respondent who doesn't live in albany, how many others were there?

The most incredible part of the poll were the top issues that people cared about, school, crime and taxes.

Hmmmm I wonder who is the only candidate who campaigned from day one on those same exact issues, Right, Lebron!!!

So The Tanfather and Ellitist with their cash and professional pollsters/staff from NYC completely missed it.  I am including Morris in this too.

The fact that Lebron hit it right on the head and the "Pros" missed it says to me that there is still a chance.  Not quite in hell anymore.

DIA, Here is one for you.  Ellis could pull the primary off.  I think that 21 point gap was surprising and he could pull an upset.  But if he does no better than Goodbee, Ellitist's campaign was a failure.  Although I am supporting Lebron, I can't wait to see the results this tuesday.

If it is close, I'll eat a bit of Crow here for calling Ellis:

  • Ellitist
  • Duane
  • Product 19
  • Big Love
  • Councilclown

But the ghettotician I'll stick to.

Mmmm..Crow tastes just like chicken (none / 0) (#14)

I don't give a shit The Tanfather won, Ellis did very well and I would even say his campaing lost this one more than JJ won it.  13% points behind, the Siena Saints poll saying 21%, some asshole claiming that it was even worse, no TU endorsement and poor debating skills, not to mention being a person of color in Tuffey land.  Good job Mr.Ellis.

Yes I called him Mr.Ellis.

He should stay in the race.

I am supporting Lebron but was a great showing by Ellis.

I guess you've pulled up all the Ellis signs that were able to if you've popped back up here on this blog.

Your name-calling of Ellis is, at best, classless, and at worst, racist.

You and your bosses must be very proud of your work here on this blog.

Racists? Nah (none / 0) (#12)

If you are going to be a liberal you need to drink your own kool-aid, as a person of color I cannot be racist.  I know that it crap but "progresives" believe that so stick to it.

The Tanfather wants to know if you or I are going to pickup the food for the "Ellis is really a decoy" party at the headquarters?  I am bringing red and blue Kool-Aid.

He said to be there by 8:00pm.
