So, Ellis should not run for mayor because he is lettting down the 3rd ward by doing so?
Is that why shawn morris didn't run for Mayor 4 years ago when Jennings went unchallenged? She was helping the city by not challenging Jennings?
Or should we hold morris accountable when some hack gets in place as the new CC President? Or is the 3rd ward now a more powerful seat than the CD president so it is ok for her to run and vacate her seat?
Your arguments don't make sense.
It doesn't matter who is on the common council. The only thing that matters is who is mayor. I think I've made that point clear in the last 5 years. I don't recall you being around for much of that discussion. Interestingly enough, neither was Shawn Morris who has no record of fighting the mayor on anything for the past 16 years.
My support of Ellis is in large part based on a question you and all other Morris supporters refuse to answer.
"how can Morris beat Jennings when Jennings will clean up in the minority wards just like he did against McEneney and Joyce?"
Answer that question for me and use it as a way to show what excellent judgement you have. Or are you unaware of the history of voting patterns in Albany?
Your attacks on Ellis have to do with fear of Ron Bailey, his fundraising schedule, and your apparent dislike of Citizen Action?
Again, you don't mention the issues.
You are setting a pretty high bar for your candidate. I guess if she doesn't crush all the other "faltering" challengers who are begging for the support of the Morris volunteer army, in both signatures and money, than we should have serious concerns about her viability? We'll know soon enough.
I should note that your candidate had no problem with Citizen Action, at least not publically, until she didn't get their endorsement.
This is why I like primaries. People can make all the arguments they want on blogs. They can talk theory all day. Running a campaign is another story. I've said from day one that I encouraged both Ellis and Morris to run to see who had a better campaign and more support. We should get a good sense of that in the next month. If your comments are to be believed, Ellis is doomed and has no support and Morris is by far the stronger candidate. If so, great. But I'm not making that decision based on anonymous blog comments.
I've got one final piece of advice for you. Before you accuse someone of doing something like running for mayor for "personal glory", you might want to talk to the person about why they are running for mayor. Have you done that? When Corey Ellis was voted Metroland Local Hero in 2006 and Metroland's Best Public Servant 2008 and when he received Hudson Valley Community College Humanitarian Service Award in 2007 and NAACP Public Service Award was he doing all that for personal glory?
I don't see any of those types of awards on your candidate's resume despite her 16 years in office.
I really expected better of the Morris campaign than all this petty bullshit. Perhaps you are right, I don't have very good judgement about these issues.
How about a few posts about why your candidate is the better candidate? You know, something about the issues that might make someone want to vote for her?
