Anyone else getting the scary robocall from the police union?

I find it odd that the cops are calling me and telling me how they think I should vote. Has this happened previously? It is a first for me.

My wife and I got this call and were really kind of freaked out about it. Who wants some gruff, obnoxious cop turned union thug leaving intimidating messages on your voicemail?

I think it's one of the major drawbacks of having unionized public workforces that use their collective power to influence policy.

Teacher and librarian's unions calling to lobby for capital projects, state workers lobbying for more prisons, regulations, etc are equally offensive. Just not as intimidating.

Who were they endorsing?

Roger Cusick for DA (none / 0) (#3)

I personally find the Albany Police Union endorsing a candidate from the "Integrity Party" as funny as John McCain saying he is going to regulate wall street.  If I start posting tomorrow about how Jerry Jennings is a fiscal conservative it would seem about as plausible.

The cops apparently want a DA who they put in place.  With their track record, I can't blame them.   Remember the last candidate they endorsed?   He's been accused of stalking a woman and is a known tax evader.    But then again, 1/10 of the police force are tax evaders who failed to pay taxes on illegal machine guns they purchased using the APD as a front, and then in some cases, resold.

The APD's union to back someone who blows case after case and then blames them for it?

So how much money did Soares blow on the Florida cases that were thrown out anyway?

I'm more bothered by the calls from the Police Benevolent Association, asking for money. On these election calls, I can just hang up.  But on those calls, it seems like they're targeting me, personally.  They got my number from somewhere, and if I don't give them money, they'll know about it.
I figure I paid them once, already.  That's enough.

Those calls are made by professional fund raisers, not the police offers themselves.

EVEN IF THEY IDENTIFY THEMSELVES AS COPS- THEY ARE NOT. SO TELL THEM TO FUCK OFF.

There is a report that you will want to look at before you give them a cent. Its called Pennies for Charity bt the NYS AG.
