"It must be remembered that there is nothing more difficult to plan, more doubtful of success, nor more dangerous to manage, than the creation of a new system. For the initiator has the enmity of all who would profit by the preservation of the old institutions and merely lukewarm defenders in those who would gain by the new ones." Machiavelli
Tuffey and LeadershipBy DIA, Section News
The Chief!!
"I think some of those people in that common council should think about leaving office after this," says Albany Police Chief James Tuffey. He said his investigators gave him reason to doubt Lisa Shutter - he says that's why the two officers who stopped Shutter in December were always kept on the job.Tuffey! "They're elected officials. They should let the process take its place," says Tuffey. "They may not like it when I don't tell them everything but they're not entitled to know everything."You want the truth?! You can't handle the truth!!! What more is there to say? If you question the chief, he thinks you should resign. And he is telling you right up front that he won't give you all the information. So, the top law enforcement officer says that he will handle all investigations, he will not share the information with the legislative body that is supposed to provide oversight for the citizens AND if anyone questions this they should resign. I believe that system was considered by our Founding Fathers. It was called "Checks and Go Fuck Yourself". They decided to go with the other idea called Checks and Balances. While we are asking for apologies and resignations, let's review some of Mr. Tuffey's most egregious offenses. PS. Could someone please check the cell phone records in this case so we can determine which side is telling the truth about that one simple and verifiable thing? That would be a good starting point. I realize the chief isn't very inquisitive but here are some questions I still have about this issue.
