Yet another shooting on Lark St. early this morning. The violence continues despite the rhetoric.

Noteables:

--"No arrests have been made in the case and police were still looking for a motive. But they said the shooting does not appear to be a random act of violence and may have stemmed from a prior incident."

--"Sunday's shooting comes on the heels of Friday's night's stabbing of a 14-year-old boy near Clinton Avenue and Lark Street. The boy is expected to survive the attack but no arrests have been made."

Point A to ...? (none / 0) (#1)

I was traveling across town today, and my wife insisted I stop driving on "the bad streets" because of the violence this year.

I had a hard time getting home. Just where are the good streets in Albany these days?

The streets will be as good or as bad as we make them. As long as we all think it is someone else's job, it ain't gonna get done. There is only 'we' here.

The Running Man (none / 0) (#3)
by albarbor on Tue Jul 01, 2008 at 10:15:34 PM EST
Anyone ever heard of the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878. The Confederates that lost the military fighting during the U.S. Civil War, won the U.S. Civil War with the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878. This act paved the way for the success of segregation in the south and the success of Jim Crow. This act also aided in the success of nearly 13 million illegal aliens running freely in the United States of America today. Prior to the Posse Comitatus Act, just as the case with present day Iraq, U.S. Soldiers guarded election sites and verified U.S. Citizenship and a voters eligibility to vote. What rights do an illegal alien have under the U.S. Constitution? They are not slaves, no one is forcing them to stay, they can turn themselves in or exit the U.S. at anytime.

If you want to fire an illegal or unauthorized weapon in American neighborhoods then you should be arrested by a Federal Security Force. The ongoing debate of illegal aliens would not be a discussion, because each of them would be deported or in a U.S. Military Prison. Jamiel Shaw's killer Pedro Espinoza would have been deported or in a military prison if this Federal Security Force existed.

If gangs were put out of business in places like L.A. County and New York City, then Albany's small town gangs would not exist. When leaders fail to stand up in support of leaders like Walter Moore in L.A. gangs seem appealing a coast away in Albany. There is nothing good coming across that U.S. Southern Border. We cannot afford the anchor babies, and the gangs and drug violence are not needed in our neighborhoods.

In the 1930s Mexico nationalized PEMEX oil to support it's welfare system. Now Albany tax payers foot the bill for the food stamps and welfare payments of millions of illegal Mexicans residing in the U.S. Mr. Conners wants to know where the Medicaid and health cost inflation is coming from. He needs to study L.A. County and the Emergency Medical Treatment Active Labor Act (EMTALA). Medicaid matching dollars is like taking each Albany County tax payer to the top of the Empire State Plaza Observation Deck and hanging them upside down. Jerry is sitting quietly as the rounds go past his head, this is because his hands are tied. Jerry needs to look outside of Albany's borders for solutions. Most of the gangs, drugs and violence are imported from other parts of the U.S.

The Posse Comitatus Act in affect ties the hands of Governors and the President of the United States in dealing with issues that state and local leaders fail to address. Gang violence is traced back to the same place that the drugs are coming from. If you want to be a gang member and run the streets firing weapons, then you should have to deal with armed U.S. Soldiers with rifles. There are areas in California, Texas and New York, which gangs have complete control over and the time has come for the U.S. Military to intervene. It would take one Marine Corps Battalion or U.S. Army Infantry Battalion to deal with Albany's illegal weapons and gang problems. The fact is a coast away in places like L.A. County, the federal government fails to address gang related issues. These issues like viruses infest the entire nation and mutate throughout the nation.

Imagine for a moment if there was no U.S. Border Patrol, INS, or TSA and there was just one Federal Security Agency. This security agency would be responsible for security at the border, airports, rail stations. Most importantly this security agency could take control of government housing. There would be no drugs, no guns in the housing projects and they would be run like military cities. Any neighborhood that a Mayor and Governor deem out of control the U.S. Federal Security Force would administer until order is restored and return control to the Mayor. That was Lincoln's vision and the Confederates wanted to continue slavery through things like guest worker programs or migrant worker programs. New York Governor John Jay abolished slavery in 1799 for a reason. We have communist amongst us, they where the suits of Republicans and Democrats. Karl Marx took the credit for the "Communist Manifesto", but modern communism origins are the U.S. The U.S. Slave system was the purest form of communism, and with food stamps, illegal alien slave labor and Social Security exploitation some Americans want to continue the Pre Civil War Era. Lincoln fought communism in America only to have it resurface in cowardly laws and government programs. General Oliver Howard did not represent anchor babies, welfare and food stamps, he represented the Constitution of the United States of America. These illegal aliens have taken control of our nation and it is up to every American to stand against them and those Americans that support them.

The U.S. has military cities and neighborhoods throughout the U.S. on military bases and there are no gun and drug violence. The Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) and the "War on Drugs" are all failures of Reagan. The IRCA called for the U.S. Military to take over responsibility for non-U.S. Citizens that commit crimes in the U.S. This never happened and illegal gang members from coast to coast are rapping and killing American children. The U.S. Military has the prison and contrary to what some may believe has the "manpower" for a round up. America's enemies tend to underestimate the power of the United States of America. The oath to "Uphold and Defend the Constitution of the United States of America" has nothing to do with giving an oath to the U.S. Military. Our oath is to our families and the United States of America, and those who chose to disrupt and cause chaos in our neighborhoods better remember that. Imagine if Jerry had the power to call in a federal security force to take control of a segment of Albany, New York.

Posse comitatus (none / 0) (#4)
by Tom Paine on Wed Jul 02, 2008 at 07:48:58 AM EST
Posse comitatus just prevents the military from taking a law enforcement role. That's all.

It says nothing about the power to create a federal law enforcement agency....which is a good thing or else we'd have to get rid of the FBI, Secret Service and probably a bunch of other pretty good things.

Turning loose an Infantry battalion in a US city would be the biggest disaster since katrina, so if you want to push this idea please push it somewhere else. The Army is really, really good at killing people and breaking stuff. That's not what law enforcement is about.

Tom thanks for your comments and I agree (none / 0) (#5)

Tom, thank you for your comments. Katrina was a disaster not because of the military or government in general. Katrina was a disaster, because of poor leadership and the undermining of the American people. The United States of America has invested over 1.5 Billion USD or more into the North American Development Bank (a NAFTA bank based in San Antonio, Texas). To this day this no evidence or proof that prior to or after Katrina any funds from this Development Bank that total 3 Billion USD were used in the rebuilding efforts in Katrina. In New Orleans, Americans are living in formaldehyde infested trailers. Should the disaster of Katrina not have called for all the Development Bank's resources to be directed towards rebuilding New Orleans, Louisiana?
On my recent trip to New Orleans about two months ago I saw rundown buildings and people that looked hopeless. The North American Development Bank's mission is to develop areas along the U.S.-Mexican border. We will have to break out a map to see where New Orleans, Louisiana is located. Katrina and the oil crisis reinforce that America does not have partners in Trade in North America. As Senator Clinton pointed out during her campaign New York and Canada have trade barriers, while Mexico has a free for all to dump products on the U.S. market. Most of the major news outlets are funded by big oil so they are reluctant to discuss PEMEX (Mexico's government owned oil company). In 2005 Dr. Robert A. Pastor warned that if Mexico did not privatize PEMEX its production woes do to the lack of technology upgrades would affect future oil supplies hint hint the Oil Crisis of 2008. It does not take a PHD in Economics for Americans to realize, had Mexico privatized PEMEX additional oil reserves would have been available therefore lowering the price of oil or forcing Canada to increase its export of oil to the U.S. The bottom line is since NAFTA was started in 1993 American Taxpayers have been getting screwed ever since. I will just say payback is a B#%&.

Today L.A. Mayor Villaraigosa, criticized Homeland Security for enforcing immigration laws.(1) L.A. has a law Special Order No. 40 that supports illegal aliens migrating into and throughout the U.S. It is widely known that L.A. was one of the first sanctuary cities in the U.S. I can remember as a young child in Arbor Hill visiting Whitney Young and I had such admiration for that health clinic. Now with improperly trained mid level providers and as I was told by a staff member after a loved one was sent home to die, Whitney Young is now a "Free Clinic".  I have emailed Comptroller Conners a study on L.A. County's healthcare crisis done by the late Dr. Madeline Cosman, J.D. PHD. The study on L.A. County's "Free Clinics" shades light on America's raise in healthcare cost and demand for "Free Clinics". The clinics that are predominately used by illegal aliens are not "Free Clinics" and when my mother, father, grandmother, and grandfather pay their Albany County property taxes they are paying for these "Free Clinics" in L.A. County. How is this possible? There is something that the "smart" economist don't discuss, three nasty words called (health care inflation). As Dr. Huntoon illustrated in "Medicaid Penny" Medicaid matching dollars are based on usage. As Dr. Cosman proved in her research when California or any other state imports illegal aliens and they have no way to pay for their healthcare or food. They have two options for heath they can exploit the Emergency Medical Treatment Active Labor Act (EMTALA) or they can seek U.S. government assistance. Contrary to what Senator Obama, Congressman Luis Gutierrez, D IL, President George W. Bush and Senator John McCain say about illegal immigration the benefit is canceled out by the exploitation of America's Welfare system which is tied to Social Security. I do not think that my parents (baby boomers) and grandparents should have to compete with illegal aliens for their Social Security retirement dollars.  As we have learned from the VIP home loan programs members of the U.S. Congress are given VIP treatment my parents and grandparents are not going to receive that and they will need their Social Security benefits.
To clarify a point about the U.S. Military, I am sticking to my Posse Comitatus comments. The Posse Comitatus Act has aided in Mayor Villaraigosa of L.A. maintaining his sanctuary city. As a former American Infantryman I would like to reassure you that my oath is to defend the U.S. Constitution and my oath is to my family and friends in Albany, New York. No U.S. Military member takes an oath or swears allegiance to the U.S. Military, the oath is to the U.S. Constitution and the Citizens of the United States of America. This is done so that no President as Commander and Chief or Governor for that matter can take dictatorial control of a state or the United States of America. I do not today or ever in the future recommend that the world's most lethal killing teams should be unleashed on American cities. What I do recommend is that Mayor Jennings and Municipal Executives around the U.S., begin to speak out against sanctuary cities were illegal alien gangs are allowed to breed. Without going into detail I will simply say that when the U.S. military conducts a raid during combat operations (Iraq) the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is monitoring closely the activities of the U.S. Military. The interrogation tactics and conduct of American troops is punishable not only by the Uniform Code of Military Justice, but the Department of Justice has international jurisdiction over certain cases involving U.S. Military members. Eventually as the sleeping giant gradually entered World War II, the second war with Mexico is indirectly underway and it is being waged by Homeland Security in the streets of L.A. I was against Homeland Security being an independent agency from day and I have always believed that internationally it should be a part of the Defense Department and internally the agency should be administered by the Justice Department (FBI).  Tom the Mexican Government has made clear as of last month that they do not want U.S. Troops on Mexican soil fighting the Mexican Drug Cartels. I do not believe that Homeland Security can handle this task. The FBI works jointly with the U.S. Military worldwide and sad to say it is going to take a serious incident in a place like L.A. for the U.S. government to unleash "Lethal Killing Teams". We have federal military and civilian detention centers strategically placed throughout the U.S. and this round up should happen sooner or later prior to a serious incident taking place. The American people are going to be extremely angry when a Homeland Security Agent is murdered by an illegal alien gang member.
Mayor Villaraigosa has challenged Homeland Security to round up illegal gang members instead of peaceful illegal aliens. That would be like the people that smiled at us during the day in Iraq and tried to kill us at night with IEDs, it will never work. I would hope someone in the Department of Justice and the Department of Defense is planning for this upcoming military campaign. The first time that a group of Homeland Security Agents are gunned down trying to apprehend an illegal gang member then what? I feel a blitz should be started from L.A. County all the way to Mexico's southern border.  If the problems are corrected in big cities then they do not spread to small cities like Albany. Right now we only feel it in Medicaid inflation, but as these terrorist gangs continue to migrate throughout American cities more innocent Americans will die. I disagreed with the Japanese Camps during World War II only because the Japanese were American Citizens. This time around without firing a shot America is losing a war that we don't even know that we are in (As quoted from Walter Moore). Mexico lost the Mexican-American war and I will give them about three days in the Mexican-American War II. Americans need a timetable for the Mexican Government to clean up the gangs on their end and take responsibility for their citizens in the U.S.
Tom I am sorry if my comments offended you. I just believe that the people of Albany, New York have sacrificed for too much to have to deal with gangs, illegal weapons and illegal aliens migrating into their county. What can be done now? County mayors and legislators can sign a resolution condemning sanctuary cities and urging New York U.S. Congressional Members to author legislation suspending U.S. Federal Funding to L.A. County and any other sanctuary city in the U.S. This will do two things support Homeland Security in rooting out illegal aliens in L.A. County and across America. Next this will increase the Medicaid fund pool for cities and counties that abide by federal law. A DIA poster made the comment that NYC does not give a S
&^ about Albany. This must be examined when big cities like NYC and L.A. decide to establish sanctuary cities ultimately tax payers in Albany are impacted by lose in jobs and productivity. The proof is in the research I have email each member of the Albany City Council and the Mayor's Office a copy of the Medicaid inflation Study, L.A. County "Free Clinic" Study, and the "Medicaid Penny". The "Medicaid Penny" did not tell exactly where the inflation came from, but the years in which Albany County, New York and Erie County, New York experienced the highest inflation in Medicaid Cost was the same time that L.A. County had a boom in illegal aliens using the "Free Clinics" and exploiting "EMTALA". As a result the L.A. County health care system was nearly collapsed. The Albany City and County Legislators will sit on and wait until the Medicaid budget is 60% of the county's overall budget and then they will act. I am not against sanctuary cities. I just don't believe that my grandparents should have to give up a portion of their Social Security retirement to pay for food stamps and welfare payments to illegal aliens. Nor do I believe my family members in Albany, Troy, Colonie and Saratoga should have to pay for sanctuary cities in California or anywhere else in America. If California wants sanctuary cities their taxpayers should pay for it and there should not be any federal funding to support it.  Instead of attacking Mayor Jennings maybe the city council should focus on where problems with urban demise are coming from. California is experiencing a construction boom while Senator Schumer is in Arbor Hill talking about urban blight.
Mayor Villaraigosa thinks Homeland Security is wasting its "little dollars" on rounding up illegal aliens and not rounding up illegal gang members. If the U.S. Congress suspended welfare funding to L.A. County and redirected the funds to rounding up all illegal aliens, I would imagine Homeland Security would have enough money. Last I heard France and the European Union were ready to unveil the European Union Army which will be a part of NATO, oh yeah Mexico is not a part of NATO.  My view is that the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Infantry and 101st Air Assault Infantry can clear illegal alien gangs in the U.S. and Mexico in one week (with the FBI playing watchdog as they are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan). First the FBI and Homeland Security should handle the situation, but when we lose an FBI Agent or Homeland Security Agent then the Department of Defense should get clean up duties.
