Barnette Upset About Losing Job

You know what I like about this story?
City Treasurer Betty J. Barnette is strongly objecting to attempts to remove her as a member of the state Democratic Committee, the latest saga in an intraparty feud.

Barnette took the unusual step of sending a mailing directly to Democratic voters. She blasts Albany County Democratic co-chairmen Frank Commisso and David Bosworth for what she calls "deceitful charades."
What I enjoy about this is that what Betty Barnette really needs to worry about is being removed from her day job. Goodbye fat paycheck. Goodbye taxpayer funded car. Goodbye ability to obscure the real finances of the city for your buddy the mayor. Goodbye.

Cost to Taxpayers (none / 0) (#1)

No one should lose his/her job for proper performance.  Is there a job description for Barnett's job?  Has she met the standards?  Often, employees in government and private industry are told to outright lie about a financial situation by their boss in order to HELP the corporation or entity.  It does not help shareholders or taxpayers. Most employees will not stand up to their boss and tell he/she it is your job to report the data correctly.  Fear is the most powerful motivator.  Fear of losing your job can be overwhelming.  Look at what happens to all the whistle blowers.  This is a system problem in Albany itself and not just specific to Barnett.  All Albany does is fuel the fire and the taxpayer loses.  Instead of time "Doing the Taxpayers Business" -(Joe Bruno) time is spent on defending or selling a position to CYA and the taxpayers business is lost.
