Now this, I like. Quite a bit. If they get 1,000 people to show up, that is some nice work. 500 would be impressive enough. That said, more than 3,500 people signed a petition in Albany to get charter revisions on the ballot and that got shot down by a mere 9 Albany Common Council members. We'll see if they have better luck out in the woods.
NEW SCOTLAND -- More than 1,000 people in this rural town signed a petition to support a moratorium that would prevent a big-box retailer from converting a farm field.

The group, called New Scotlanders for Sound Economic Development, will even hold a press conference tonight and turn over the signatures to the town board in advance of a public hearing on the proposed six-month moratorium.

Hundreds of people have shown up at recent town board meetings to protest the arrival of an anchor retail store rumored to be a Target. The moratorium vote is scheduled for May 14.
