Albany - The Investigation City

I know a popular refrain on this site is that we need to wait for all the facts. Don't jump to any conclusions, we are told. Sounds fair to me. I'll just say that if the medical records back up this guy's story, it would seem he's got a strong case.
Several Albany County sheriff's investigators have retained some well-known attorneys to represent them in a federal lawsuit brought by a man who was arrested at a downtown bus station and forcibly sedated at Albany Medical Center Hospital during a fruitless search for drugs.

The lawyers include former District Attorney Paul Clyne, Stephen Coffey and John Reilly, an Albany Corporation Counsel attorney who regularly defends the city's police force in cases involving police misconduct allegations. Reilly was retained by Scott Gavigan, a city detective assigned to the sheriff's Drug Interdiction Unit.

glad they finally caught Kaczmerak and his wife.... Now for Albany...

The man that was taken from the bus station, then to Albany Med, had his rights violated BIG TIME, by the police and by Albany Med, if the evidence is true, and in this case, it looks like it is. Even if he had been guilty of things in the past.  He was small time. But if he is innocent, he will be the only one to suffer.  It has been known for some time, by some, that nurses at Albany Med will alter reports in favor of the police.  And we know how some of the police, without cameras, have acted. The more serious the violation against police, the less likely that person is to win. Why?
Because it makes everyone look bad.  And they can't have that.  No one in a power position admits to wrong doing, they may change things afterwards, but they will not admit wrong doing.  Most of the serious cases against the police have not even been heard.  The lawyers don't give a damn either if it doesn't benefit them.  I'm surprised a local lawyer is taking him on.  Usually, anything against the police has to be done by outside attorneys.  After all, if you live locally, Albany can give anyone exposing anything a real hard time.  But I see they're circling the wagons with their "dream team."
